Generally I would say I’m not a huge fan of Impressionism probably because the style is so loved and accepted now that it’s become a frequent presence in any conservative space. I don’t know, perhaps I’m being too harsh. I’m having a read at the moment though about Modernism in general and I thought it was interesting that this piece by Claude Monet was the inspiration for the title of this avant garde group who exhibited together between 1874-1886. It’s a testament to time that this once radical and disparaged form of art is now so admired and emulated it has become dull. In my opinion!
