I’m an artist living on the east coast of Australia. Gradually I’m realising that the suburb I live in exemplifies the iconic nature of this country and I love that this is influencing my art.
I have studied at the Newcastle Tafe art school for 4 years recently achieving distinctions in 2nd year Diploma Painting and Art History gaining a Diploma in Visual Arts.
To continue to extend my art practice, incorporating many mediums including textiles and tapestry, is my aim.

When considering my art practice my chief motivation is to express myself through the experimentation of materials. The freedom with which mark making is part of my practice has encouraged me to draw from my subconscious and hence create artwork that expresses who I am through what I observe.
This series of images for Truevision Gallery Oct 2012 grew through my fascination with Newcastle. Whereas most see the city as tired and rundown, I see a distinct urban community with character. Its unique culture as well as a plentiful selection of iconic structures, provided possibilities in regard to my art making process, seemingly endless.
